I will play a solo set as part of the ongoing Sunday night improvised music series at Cafe Racer in Seattle. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day (1/17), my set will be a sonic contemplation of his Letter from Birmingham Jail, which I first encountered at age 20. The content of this letter and the manner in which MLK expressed his ideas greatly shaped my social and theological understanding. My set will also be inspired by similar sonic meditations on MLK speeches such as Coltrane’s Alabama.
